Czech companies in Hungary present solutions for the future of energy

On 13 June 2025, a professional presentation of Czech companies from the energy sector took place at the Czech Embassy in Budapest. The event focused on opportunities within the planned construction of combined cycle power plants in Mátra and Tisza and on the possibilities for Czech suppliers to participate in these projects.

Czech companies in Hungary present solutions for the future of energy

During the presentation, the team consisting of Michal Balko, Martin Zmatek, and Peter Szomor presented the comprehensive portfolio of the CE INDUSTRIES energy division, from project preparation to delivery, assembly, and commissioning.

Why Hungary, and why now?

Hungary is planning a fundamental transformation of its energy mix. The Mátra power plant, one of the largest in the country, will gradually move away from coal and switch to a combination of gas and renewable energy sources. Similarly, the Tisza power plant will undergo significant modernisation. Both locations represent significant investment opportunities not only for major suppliers but also for technically advanced subcontractors from Central Europe.

What do our companies offer?

The companies of the CE INDUSTRIES group presented their capabilities in areas such as:

  • Comprehensive EPC deliveries of turbine engine rooms and technological units
  • Custom manufacturing of piping routes, pressure vessels, exchangers, blades and other key components
  • Process engineering, layout design, basic and detailed design
  • Installation and commissioning, including service and support

"Our ambition is to be a technology partner that not only has professional capabilities, but also experience from similar projects abroad. And it is precisely steam-gas power plants that are an area where we can offer real added value," it was stated during the presentation.

The CE INDUSTRIES Group continues to establish partnerships and hold technical negotiations on specific involvement in the Mátra and Tisza projects. The aim is to offer Czech quality and flexibility where precision engineering, energy efficiency and an emphasis on reliability are combined.

Representatives of major Czech companies such as ŠKODA JS and ENERGOPROJEKT PRAHA also participated in the event. The Hungarian side was represented by representatives of STATUS KPRIA, while Calik participated on behalf of the Turkish EPC contractor.

30, 50, 60… What percentage of Dukovany will go to Czech companies

Czech companies want a piece of the Dukovany construction project. It is almost certain that the secondary loop will remain in Czechia. And a number of other deliveries will be decided in the coming years. The participation of Czechs in other KHNP projects in Europe is highly uncertain. Sufficient participation by Czech companies in the construction of new nuclear power sources is an insurmountable "red line" in this huge contract, both for the state and for representatives of local industry. Czech companies that manufacture in Czechia, pay taxes and insurance, see the construction of the fifth and sixth units in Dukovany as a great opportunity – after all, the completion is being talked about as the project of the century.
