MICo visited TV Nova's staff in connection with Dukovany II

On 7 May 2025, TV Nova visited MICo s.r.o. to prepare a report on how companies from the CE INDUSTRIES group can contribute to the supply of key components and technologies for the extension of the Dukovany nuclear power plant. MICo Sales Director Michal Balko guided journalists through our production facilities, explaining the role of MICo and other companies in the group in preparing for the order and explaining the implications of the court ruling.

Context: Legal wrangling over the signing of the contract

On 7 May 2025, a meeting between Prime Minister Petr Fiala and South Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Ahn Dukgeun was planned at Strakova Academy, where important agreements were to be signed. However, the Regional Court in Brno issued a preliminary injunction blocking this signature until the legal dispute is resolved.

  • On 6 May, the court ruled that the preliminary injunction was a procedural step that did not determine the final outcome of the dispute and should remain in place until the case had been fully heard.
  • The Supreme Administrative Court subsequently overturned this measure, stating that the regional court had failed to take into account the public interest in the timely signing and commencement of construction.
  • The contract could have been digitally signed shortly after this legal change, as confirmed by ČT24 and the local press.

What role does MICo play in the completion of the Dukovany nuclear power plant?

The TV Nova report included an interview with Sales Director Michal Balk, who explained the role of MICo and other companies in the group in preparing for the contract and explained the implications of the court ruling.

  • Within CE INDUSTRIES, MICo is a supplier of heat exchangers and pressure vessels for nuclear and conventional power plants, petrochemical and chemical plants. Particularly in the construction of new Dukovany units, MICo targets engine room exchangers such as steam separators/reheaters, steam condensers, and low- and high-pressure heaters.
  • Companies belonging to the CE INDUSTRIES group, including MICo and CHEMCOMEX, were mentioned as potential subcontractors with the possibility of supplying up to60% of the project value to Czech companies.
  • During the broadcast, Michal Balko emphasised MICo's capacity to manufacture components worth hundreds of millions of Czech crowns and its readiness for a possible transition to supplying Dukovany II.
